Our office is an integrated practice, so we not only provide chiropractic care, but also muscle work and rehabilitation care. I’ve found that the chiropractic adjustment is usually what some patients are skeptical of when it comes to visiting us.
Whether it’s because of something they saw on TV, or a story from someone else who had a not so positive experience, there can be a lot of negativity about chiropractic adjustments. Usually, it’s related to that ‘popping’ sound some may hear during their adjustment.
Clearing up the Confusion
I’d like to explain exactly what that sound is that so many people are apprehensive about. When you visit us that’s exactly what I’ll do. I’ll fully walk you through what’s going on in your spine and how a joint is misaligned or compressed and causing your pain, so you’ll move forward knowing exactly what we’ll be doing.
That noise you might hear is actually a good thing! It is the release of the tension when we correct the misalignment you have. When you hear it or feel that release, we’re taking pressure off the joint or nerve in your problem area.
I see a lot of patients who were at first scared of the noise or didn’t want neck adjustments. A couple of months later, they can’t wait to hear it because they know how much better they’re going to feel!
